'TIS THE SEASON!

'TIS THE SEASON!

Cucciolo here ~ Hello!  This is my very first Christmas!  Madre and padre have been telling me all about what happens this time of the year and there are going to be a whole lot of "firsts" coming up for me!  Yahoo!

Madre is acquainting me with all sorts of holiday music ~ I am MOST inspired!  I completely re-wrote the words to "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" ~ check it out and let me know if you like it!  If I should happen to  meet you somewhere, and you can sing the entire song for me, I will give you a prize! Honest!

Santa Claus is Coming To Town!
by John Frederick Coots and Haven Gillespie (circa:  1934)
Text by:  Cucciolo, 2012

You better not bark, you better not bite.
You better be good from morning till night.
Santa Claus is coming to town!

You better watch out, he’s lookin’ at you.
He sees if you lick, he sees if you chew.
Santa Claus is coming to town!

You may want some beef jerky.
You could want tuna fish.
You may want toys and other treats
to do with as you wish!

So, you better be good, you better be nice.
Whatever you do, think about it twice.
Santa Claus is coming to town!

You better not poop, you better not pee
anywhere near the Christmas tree.
Santa Claus is coming to town!

He’s making a list of puppies and dogs,
so you better curl up and sleep like a log.
Santa Claus is coming to town!

He sees you when you’re playing.
He knows when you are good.
He can tell when you behave
like a great puppy or dog should.

Chews and pulls and squeaky toys too;
he’s getting them ready all for you.
Santa Claus is coming to town!

All the dogs in Dog Land will plan a jubilee.
They’ll run and play and dance and prance
all around the Christmas tree!

So, you better not bark, you better not bite.
You better be good from morning till night.
Santa Claus is coming to town!

So, you better not bark, you better not bite.
You better be good from morning till night.
Santa Claus is coming to town!

ART LESSONS

MORE TURKEYS!

Well, I couldn't help myself now that I had this line drawing of a turkey (see Post-Impressionist Turkey) so I printed out some copies on card stock and colored in one with markers.

Then I really couldn't help myself, ha! and used this turkey and embellished it with pastels and glitter glue!
Volia!

I am sure that YOU can think of a gazillion other ways to use this line drawing of a turkey now that you have seen some examples.  Hope this inspires you to be creative and talk some serious turkey, ha!  Be sure to let me know what you do, I would LOVE to see it!

GREENLEAF WAY ARTISTS

OLIVAINA ~ GREENLEAF WAY ARTIST IN THE SPOTLIGHT!

A four year old Oliviana!
Oliviana started at the Studio in November of 2008 so it is fitting that she be our featured artist this month!  She started when she was four years old, a preschooler, and today she is eight years old and in the second grade.  I have known her for half her life, amazing!! She has had 141 hours of art instruction and has created a gazillion works of art in all sorts of mediums.  I went through her photo file and selected just a sampling of the works of art that she has created.  I hope you enjoy browsing through her work!

I also interviewed her so you could know a little bit more about her!

Enjoy!

THE GREENLEAF WAY GALLERY ARTIST:  OLIVIANA

I spoke with Oliviana recently about art; here is a summary of our conversation!

Mrs. R. So, Oliviana, why do you like to make art?

Oliviana: It is fascinating, it inspires me, for example, to grab a brush and just paint!

Mrs. R. What kind of art interests you the most?

Oliviana: Anything having to do with Halloween!  Vampires and stuff  like that.

Mrs. R. What art form do you like the best?  And why?

Oliviana: I like working with clay because you can make whatever you want out of it.

Mrs. R. What is your favorite color?

Oliviana:  Pink

Mrs. R. What else can you tell me about yourself?

Oliviana:   I take piano lessons, I am in the Girl Scouts and in the chess club, I love working with leggos, and I love and collect Monster High dolls.

Mrs. R.  Who is your favorite artist?

Oliviana:  The author, Eric Carle, is my favorite artist.

Mrs. R.  What advice would you give to someone who is interested in making art?

Oliviana:  Never give up;  try new things, something will always work out!

Mrs. R.’s notes:  Oliviana is amazing with just sitting down with a medium ~ clay, paper, whatever ~ and then coming up with complex and unique artifacts!  I remember the series she did a few years ago of the manger scene, all created with found objects from the studio!  Last summer she created the clay sunflower project which I subsequently taught to all my students!  I think it is safe to say that there is “never a dull moment” when Oliviana is creating in the studio!

THE FOLLOWING ARE PHOTOS OF OLIVIANA AND A SAMPLING OF THE WORKS OF ART THAT SHE HAS CREATED IN THE PAST FOUR YEARS ~ ENJOY!

THE FOLLOWING IS A SAMPLE OF SOME OF OLIVIANA'S PHOTOGRAPHY!  SHE HAS A GREAT EYE THRU THE LENS!

OF COURSE, THIS IS NOT THE END, OLIVIANA HAS SOOOO MUCH MORE TO CREATE!

Thanks Oliviana for bringing your high spirit and creativity to the studio ~ we are all richer for it!  :)
